If you want to become a master Blackjack card counter, everything you need to know is included in this article. And why wouldn’t you want to be a master card counter? Master card counters are making money every day at the blackjack tables.
You need to be committed to putting in the work and time, but once you make this commitment, all you have to do is follow the path.
The path to becoming a master card counter is following the seven steps listed in this article. It’s not an easy path, but you can follow it and learn how to master card counting. It’s time to get started.
Master the Rules First
The first step on the path to being a master blackjack card counter is fairly simple. You need to master every blackjack rule and variation.
This means that you need to learn what every rule is, how they work, and most importantly, how each rule changes the return percentage for the game.
Master card counters know that 6:5 blackjack tables are bad, so they avoid them. They also know that surrender is a profitable rule, so they seek these games. Master counters know how doubling down and splitting help them beat the game.
It doesn’t take long to master the rules. But it’s just as important as any other step on the path. Take the time to become a blackjack rules master, then move to the next step on the path.
Master Blackjack Card Counter Strategy Next
The next step on the path to counting mastery is to become a strategy master. You have to learn the best strategy for every possible situation when you’re playing real money blackjack.
Note: This means that you need to know the best play when you have a hard 10 against a dealer 6 and against a dealer 10. You need to know what to do with a hard 15 against a dealer 6 or dealer 9. And you need to know the best play for any other hand you can have facing any card a dealer has.
Most blackjack players are too lazy to use strategy. But winning blackjack players know that there’s one best way to play every hand, and they always play their hands the best way. This is how you push the return percentage as high as possible before you start counting.
When I learned how to use blackjack strategy, I got a strategy chart and played free online blackjack game using my chart until I had every play memorized. This took several hours, but it’s been worth it because I always know the best way to play.
You’re never going to be a master card counter until you can play 100% perfect strategy.
Learn the Ace-Five System
Now that you’re a blackjack rules master and a strategy master, it’s time to start your card counting education. You can skip straight to an advanced counting system, but I teach players to learn how to master a simple system first.
The best introduction counting system is called the Ace-Five. You track all of the aces and fives that are played and adjust your wagers based on the aces and fives that remain in the deck or shoe.
While it might seem simple to track aces and fives, this system is strong enough to give you an edge. It isn’t a big edge, but even if you can use it to just breakeven, it’s better than losing.
You can learn how to use the Ace-Five counting system is under an hour. And you can master it in 10 hours or less. And the best thing about this system is that once you master it, you’re going to easily be able to adjust to an advanced counting system.
Learn an Advanced Counting System
This is where you start learning how to make real money as a master card counter. When you master an advanced counting system, you can start making money on a consistent basis. You can learn how to work with an edge of 0.5% to 1% or higher.
I know this doesn’t sound like a big edge. But when you run the numbers, you can see how it can add up quickly.
If your average bet size is $50 and you make 50 wagers every hour, you’re risking $2,500. This is $25 an hour in profit on average at 1%. And the numbers go up from there as you increase your average wager size.
You Can Use Many Different Advanced Counting Systems
But you don’t have to use a level 2 or level 3 system to get a good system. In fact, most master counters use a level 1 system. A level 1 card counting system is simply a system that only uses +1 and -1 when you count. The most popular system is called the High Low or Hi Lo. It’s a great system, but you should also check out the KO and the Red 7 systems. I like them a little better, and they’re just as powerful as the hi lo.
Practice Until You’re a Master Blackjack Card Counter
The way to master any counting system is to learn exactly how it works first, then practice using it until you’re a master. This is the longest step on the path, but it’s also the most valuable.
I’ve seen blackjack players pretty much master a system in 10 hours, and it takes some 50 or 100 hours to become a master. The time you invest isn’t really important. This is because once you master a system, you’re going to profit from it the rest of your gambling career.
Buy eight decks of playing cards to practice with. Start with one deck and deal cards as you count. Keep doing this until you can count with no mistakes while dealing as fast as you can.
Then, add a second deck and repeat the process. Keep doing this until you can count down an eight-deck shoe with no mistakes. Don’t get frustrated when you make mistakes. Keep working and eventually you’re going to be able to count no matter what’s going on around you.
Put It in Play
The final step for a master Blackjack Card Counter is to put the system in play. This means that you go to a casino and start counting when you’re playing for real money.
You’re going to be nervous when you start, but if you practiced the right way, you’re going to see that live blackjack games play slower than you can deal cards out when you practice.
The first time or two that you play for real, don’t worry about adjusting your bet sizes. Just focus on keeping an accurate count. Once you’re comfortable, then you can start adjusting your wager size.
At this point, it’s not going to take long for you to start making a profit. You have all of the tools you need and you’ve practiced to prefect your skills. But there’s one more thing that you need to do. You’re going to learn about this in the next section.
Don’t Get Caught as a Blackjack Card Counter
The biggest enemy of master card counters is casino surveillance. Casinos hate card counters, so they’re always looking for them. And when they think they’ve found a card counter, they throw them out of the casino.
You need to learn how to count cards in blackjack without getting caught. This means that you have to learn how to camouflage your play. The easiest way to do this is to move around a lot from table to table and casino to casino. But there are other ways to do this too.
Look into team play. A team of counters is much harder to catch than a single counter. Even a team of two or three can get away with counting for a long time if they’re smart.
Becoming a master blackjack counter is easier than most gamblers think. This doesn’t mean that it’s easy, but I’ve found that most blackjack players can do it if they’re willing to put in the time. You can follow the seven steps in this article and become a master counter.
The path is simple to learn how to count cards at a high level. Master the rules and strategy first. This takes some time, but it doesn’t take too long. Then, you need to master a simple counting system. Once this is done, you move to a more advanced counting system.
At this point, all you have to do is practice your skills until you become a master counter.
